The winning logo design

After lots of hard work, the team have decided on a logo for our company. The criteria for the final design was that it had to illustrate that we are a company who moves animals worldwide. There was a close vote and the two involved - Ammaar and Diego - decided to collaborate and combine their ideas. Here is the result

Our latest job...Should we or shouldn't we?

This week Jae (managing Director) was sent a letter from the Animal Welfare Department. A copy of the letter is below...

We had a discussion about whether or not to accept the job as so far we have only transported domestic animals. Here are some things we felt needed to be considered...
  • We don’t usually transport wild animals.
  • They are more aggressive and unpredictable
  • We need to find homes for them and transport
  • These animals will be bigger and will need special cages and gear so they don’t hurt us
  • Food might be different
  • Sick and might need more medical care. A special doctor who will look at wildlife animals.
  • Extra attention needed to transport wild animals

Some questions we have for the CEO or the Animal Welfare Department:
Do we have to find homes? Where are these animals going to? What types of animals are we transporting?

Things to think about:
Can we visit the park? Or should we call them? Or take photos of the animals. Could Jae phone them to arrange a meeting to see them.

We would love to hear from you about this!

Working in the Company

Today we worked 'in' the company to complete a task for the first time. Our classroom began looking a bit different with our Hall of Fame board and the Notice board on display and there were examples of pet cages out as well.

We were set an assignment from our Managing Director to update our company logo and set to work designing this and uploaded on our company Intranet. We found it difficult at first when we had to make decisions ourself because in our story Mrs Maclean is the secretary not our teacher. We eventually got it and started seeking advice from other team members and trusting ourselves to make decisions about our logos before submitting them.

Setting up the company

Last week we started thinking out our Animal Transport Company and the Team came up with some things that needed doing to help us. We listed them on our board for the Secretary to get started.

Digging Deeper

We were given photographs of other animals that could be in an Amusement Park and we worked in groups to create images frozen in time of one of the photos. We had to think about what else was happening in the photograph as well as what was in the photo. We thought there might be other animals; workers; or visitors to the park.

The start of Mantle of The Expert...

Last week we started our Mantle of The Expert (MOTE). It began with Mrs Maclean bringing us into a story and read us a part of an article

Two baby cheetah cubs snuggled together in the corner of their enclosure. They didn’t move or make a sound, just quietly peered up at the photographer while the owner of the Animal Amusement Park looked on in distress. She wasn’t sure how this happened but she she knew it was time to admit defeat…

We wondered what was happening but we knew that something wasn't quite right with the cheetah cubs. We had lots of questions to ask. Then we saw a photograph of the cheetah cubs

Mrs Maclean asked us what we could see, what we noticed - an eye of one of the cubs was closed and we thought it must be missing or that there was something wrong with it; the look really sad; we think they are too skinny; there is something around one of the cubs neck but we can't tell what it is, perhaps it's tied up.

This makes us sad and we are wondering now why the Amusement Park Owner is in distress and why the photographer is there.
